The new Omnia is a completely new shape from the ground up. It is a classic freewave boards that combines fast and crisp freeride performance with remarkable abilities also for wave sailing. The board is based on work done with Alessio Stillrich starting in 2021. Alessio wanted a board that was extremely fast, but at the same time very controlled for radical jumping in Pozo. The board needed to turn well in Alessio’s slashy type of wave riding that is typical of Pozo sailing. For this, we went to the drawing board and developed a new rocker with added curvature from the front-strap-area to the front of the mast track, but with a super fast tail. This we combined with a new vee-profile that is flatter in the center with the vee accelerating both towards the nose and tail. In particularly in the front part of the board, this vee is combined with a double concave. The flat tail rocker gives the boards its high speed stability, with the low center vee providing good pop and agility while the double concave in the front part of the board act as a cushion, making the board a real chop absorber.
When thinking about ideas to the new Simmer Freewave board, we had Alessio’s raving about the combination of speed and control of this bottom profile on our minds and decided to base our new freewave development on it. After some iterations, we ended up with a swallow tail outline with a relatively wide and stable nose and a curvature distribution that keeps the tail relatively straight for added grip. Interestingly, now the development went in the other directions and the outline from the production prototypes was brought over the Alessios Pozo board. This is the exact shape Alessio recently rode in the 2024 Pozo event and the 75 liter pro model version is now a part of the production lineup, sporting five slot boxes. The rest of the lineup uses the exact same bottom shape and progressively slightly fuller rails on the bigger models. Except for the 75, all sizes have a center powerbox and slot box thruster boxes
The Omnia replaces the Helix. It provides a faster and more agile ride with added performance in waves, while at the same time feeling more fun and exciting in a straightline.
The name Omnia stands for “seize everything,” which explains the board characteristics to the point.
